Résumé
This study aimed to analyze the issue of organizational legitimacy and social responsibility
practices within educational institutions. It sought to clarify the nature of the relationship between
organizational legitimacy and social responsibility, addressing the central research question: How
is organizational legitimacy constructed within educational institutions, and what role do social
responsibility practices play in strengthening or weakening it within daily organizational
interactions?. Adopting a qualitative analytical approach, the research utilized semi-structured
interviews and thematic (axial) content analysis. The study sample consisted of 17 purposively
selected participants, including administrative staff, teachers, and support workers at Maghribi
Hamida Middle School (Oran). The participants were of both genders, aged between 30 and 55 years,
representing different professional roles within the school organization. The fieldwork was conducted
from early January to early May 2026.
The main findings of the study can be summarized as follows:
✓ Organizational legitimacy is not solely based on formal rules but is constructed through daily
interactions and actors’ perceptions of fairness and effectiveness.
✓ There is a clear relationship between the level of social responsibility practices and the degree
of organizational legitimacy.
✓ Social responsibility practices exist but lack institutional structuring, which limits their
sustainability and impact.
✓ Management style and participation in decision-making significantly influence organizational
acceptance and professional commitment.
✓ Limited resources and insufficient training hinder the effective implementation of social
responsibility. Positive professional relationships and openness to the social environment
contribute to strengthening organizational balance and legitimacy.
