Résumé
This study aimed to investigate the relationship between vocational maturity
and mental health among workers at the Port of Beni Saf. It also sought to
identify the prevailing levels of these two variables within this specific
professional category.
Methodology:
The researchers adopted a descriptive correlational approach. A
comprehensive survey (total census) was conducted on a community of 104
workers. Data were collected using two main scales: a Vocational Maturity scale
and a Mental Health scale, following the verification of their validity and
reliability (Cronbach's Alpha = 84.4%). Data were analyzed using SPSS V26.
Key Findings:
1. There is no statistically significant correlation between vocational
maturity and mental health among the study sample (r = -0.164, Sig =
0.097).
2. The level of vocational maturity among workers is high, particularly in
terms of responsibility and commitment.
3. The level of mental health issues (anxiety, depression, and frustration) is
moderate to high, indicating significant psychological pressure.
4. There is a severe lack of psychosocial support within the work
environment, which directly impacts the workers' well-being.
5. The results of the one-way analysis of variance ($ANOVA$) showed no
statistically significant differences in the level of professional maturity
due to the occupational category, but rather due to professional experience
and educational level."
6. :"The results of the one-way analysis of variance ($ANOVA$) showed no
statistically significant differences in the level of mental health due to the
occupational category variable, but rather due to the quality of
relationships at work, the level of job security, professional experience, or
the personal characteristics of the individuals."
Recommendations:
The study recommends establishing a psychological support unit at the port,
improving physical working conditions, and organizing training sessions on
stress management to help maritime workers cope with the unique rigors of their
profession.
