Résumé
This study addresses the topic of "The Rhetoric of Narrative" in
Ismail Yabrir’s novel, Angels of L'Afran. It seeks to investigate
the theoretical and procedural foundations that shape the
aesthetics of narrative discourse within the text.
The study begins by defining the conceptual framework of
narrative rhetoric and examining the "experimental" experience
in the literature of the Algerian Ordeal (Adab al-Mihna),
highlighting the stylistic peculiarities that distinguish this
novelistic endeavor. Furthermore, the study examines the
structure of narrative discourse by analyzing:
The semiotics of the title.
The engineering of time and space.
Character-building strategies.
The polyphony of narrative voices.
The research concludes by demonstrating how these elements
coalesce to construct the text’s meanings and aesthetic
dimensions. This makes the novel a unique model for utilizing
odern narrative mechanisms to express reality through a
distinguished artistic and rhetorical style.
