Résumé
This memo addresses the topic of sign language for individuals with
special needs, particularly the hearing-impaired population. It aims to
understand how they learn letters and words using sign language. The
study adopted a descriptive approach, covering in its theoretical aspect
the concept of sign language, its characteristics, and its importance, in
addition to the characteristics of individuals with special needs. The
practical aspect consisted of a field internship within an institution for
hearing-impaired children in Aïn Témouchent, during which teaching
methods and techniques such as touch, mirror use, and body rhythm
were observed. The study demonstrated the importance of sign
language in facilitating communication, learning, and the integration
of hearing-impaired children into both educational and social
environments.
