Abstract
Mental disability in children refers to significant limitations in intellectual and adaptive
abilities. These children have difficulties in understanding, learning, and problem-solving,
which affects their development and daily functioning. They may experience developmental
delays, communication problems, memory deficits, and social difficulties. An individualized
approach, specific programs, and appropriate support are essential to promote their inclusion
and educational development.
Our work focuses on French language learning among students with mental disabilities using
observation grids and questionnaires.
The results and responses highlight the need to raise awareness among teachers about language
disorders in children with disabilities. Adapted pedagogical approaches and specific resources
are crucial to support their learning. Special attention should be given to pronunciation,
understanding of words, and non-verbal communication. Psychological support and long-term
monitoring are crucial to foster their educational development.
