Abstract

The current study aimed to identify personality traits in adolescents through their emotional expression, using the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) as a projective tool to uncover deep psychological dynamics, and to analyze how these traits manifest through the narrative structure of the stories produced by the adolescents. Two cases (one male and one female) selected purposefully, using a clinical case study approach, and employing a set of tools including (clinical interview, observation, the Emotional Regulation Questionnaire (ERQ) and the Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)). The results showed that emotional expression in adolescents is linked to personality traits; however, this link is dynamic and unstable, varying between repression, selective expression, and avoidance depending on the situation, the nature of psychological functioning, and the emotional context.
