Etude Du Réseau D’Alimentation en Eaux Potable à BELARBI (Sidi Bel Abbes )

Résumé

This master’s thesis presents the renovation and reinforcement study of the drinking water supply network for the municipality of Belarbi (Sidi Bel Abbès Province). The diagnosis of the existing network, managed by the Algérienne des Eaux (ADE), revealed an aging infrastructure (70% degraded PVC pipes) with an alarming physical water loss rate of approximately 20%. The main objective of this work is to design a high-performance network capable of satisfying long-term water demands up to the 2054 horizon. The methodology first involved demographic forecasting using the geometric growth model, predicting a population of 13,400 inhabitants by 2054, which corresponds to a peak hourly demand of 60.04 L/s. Subsequently, EPANET software was used to simulate and model the hydraulic behavior of the projected network, which consists of 10,916.12 meters of HDPE (PN16) pipelines. The steady-state simulation results validated the network's conformity, showing regulatory node pressures (ranging from 21.31 to 58.36 mH2O) and controlled flow velocities (between 0.30 and 2.00 m/s), thus preventing water stagnation and excessive head losses. Finally, the economic study estimated the total cost of the modernization works (earthworks, pipes, valves, manholes, and household connections) at 56,937,364.93 DZD (including taxes). This project delivers a sustainable technical and economic solution to optimize water resource management and secure the water supply for the population of Belarbi.
