Résumé

This study examines the polyphonic novel in contemporary Algerian literature through Wasiyyat al-Ma’touh by the writer Ismail Yabrir, focusing on how polyphony is manifested within the narrative text. It highlights the author’s reliance on the diversity of characters, the variation of their ideas, and the multiplicity of perspectives on events, which together contribute to the emergence of dialogism, where different viewpoints intersect and contrast. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach based on reading the novel and analyzing selected passages, with particular attention to the multiplicity of narrators and voices, as well as the presence of dialogism, contradictions, and symbolism, while also addressing social dimensions such as identity and the tendency toward rebellion. Ultimately, the study concludes that polyphony enhances the depth of the novel and provides the reader with wider possibilities for interpretation and understanding.
