Abstract
The discharge of waste water intro the natural environment without purifying them is
one of the main phenomena which have contributed to the pollution of the environment,
particularly to the contamination of water and to the spread of diseases.
To fight against the harmful effects of these waters we have set up wastewater treatment
plants, which is a fundamental tool because they guarantee waters that comply with the
discharge standards. However, in order to achieve the desired results, different arrangements
must be taken into account such as the geological, hydrological, demographic and
climatological context. Therefore, construction of a sewage treatment plant in this area is of
great importance.
The biological basin is the major element of an activated sludge treatment plant. Its
functioning conditions the quality of purification, such that aeration must allow the supply of
oxygen to the microorganisms responsible for the degradation of the organic matter contained
in the wastewater.
The proper design and dimensioning of the wastewater treatment plant works are
necessary to ensure the quality and reliability of waste water treatment. For this reason, the
purpose of this memorandum is to take the case of the city of a well- Ain tolba, and to study
the design of the works of a treatment plant in order to obtain a better purification efficiency.
