Abstract
Sevoflurane is a recent halogenated agent used in anesthesia for its rapid kinetics and
low solubility; it can be used in the mask in adults as in children. Despite its
degradation in compounds A in the presence of strong bases contained in soda lime,
its toxicity can be considered as almost zero.
The aim of this work is to identify the hepatic and renal metabolic disorders
associated with sevoflurane during inhalatory anesthesia in pediatric patients. These
disorders are related to the nature of its metabolites and to the elimination route by the
analysis of some biochemical parameters. in specific clinical conditions as well as the
influence of the latter on the liver's hemostasis function. This study was carried out on
a sample of 17 children aged 4 to 14, respecting the exclusion criteria and
harmonizing the conditions of the tests that were performed on blood samples taken
preoperatively and one hour after the complete wakefulness. to measure kidney
parameters such as urea and creatinine and liver metabolism parameters such as AST,
ALT, GGT, PH-AL and lipid parameters as well as prothrombin levels. The latter was
the only parameter influenced by this type of anesthesia the other parameters must be
re-explored under other conditions in relation to the type of circuit and the duration of
anesthesia while quantifying the elimination rates of metabolites at the renal level.
