Abstract

This study examines the pivotal role of the Sentencing Enforcement Judge (or Judge of the Application of Sentences) in modern Algerian correctional policy. Moving beyond the traditional judicial function, the judge now actively oversees sentence execution, ensuring compliance with human rights and contemporary reform principles. Governed by Law No. 05-04 (amended by Law No. 18-01), this position is crucial for inmate rehabilitation and social reintegration, utilizing mechanisms like conditional release and electronic monitoring. The research highlights the judge's essential function as a link between the judiciary and correctional implementation, emphasizing their role in humane supervision and achieving broader societal security through effective reintegration.15
