Abstract

This study addresses the phenomenon of interactive digital literature, representing a qualitative evolution in literary practice driven by the digital revolution. In this new literary form, the reader shifts from a passive recipient to an active participant in meaning construction through multimedia channels. The study aims to analyze patterns of linguistic interaction in contemporary Arabic digital texts by reviewing the theoretical framework of digital literature and its linguistic interactivity, then applying this framework to two representative Arabic works: the novel Chat by Muhammad Sanajla and the poem Digital Dates of a Partially Blue Biography by Mushtaq Abbas Ma’an. The research employs two main methodologies: a descriptive-analytical approach for the theoretical aspect, and an applied-analytical approach for the digital texts, focusing on the use of digital media and linguistic interaction forms that reshape language functions within the digital environment. The study’s significance lies in addressing a current and urgent topic, filling a research gap in Arabic studies on linguistic interaction in digital literature, and contributing to the development of digital reading and criticism tools. It also discusses critical issues related to reception, authorship, and intellectual property within digital texts. Challenges encountered include the scarcity of specialized sources, difficulty accessing original interactive texts, variation in critical terminology, and technical obstacles. Nonetheless, this study constitutes an important step toward deepening theoretical and practical understanding of interactive digital literature in the Arab context.
