The Algerian coastal area is naturally rich in resources, it is now the place of multiple activities (Tourism, industry, agriculture). This wealth generally subjects it to strong pressures and makes its layout more and more difficult. Tourism is the activity most attached to the coast, so the tourist development of the latter is one of the factors of development through its valuation. At the same time, it is the subject of a high consumption and deterioration of this space whose obligation to protect it is a priority by the introduction of sustainability in its development. The aim of this research is to present, in a first part, the general theoretical framework in order to better understand the concept of the protection and the valorization of the latter and to have in parallel a clear picture on the development, based on sustainable tourism development. In the second part, this work will make a modest contribution to explain and better understand the coastal area of the Willaya of Ain Temouchent and the state of its development in order to compare it with the models of sustainable tourism development of the coasts of the Mediterranean countries.en_US
