Abstract

The present thesis is dedicated to the analysis of linguistic differences between live sports commentary and pre-recorded commentary, and their impact on the understanding and appreciation of sports events by listeners. Sports commentators play a pivotal role in shaping the audience's perception of these events, with their lexical choices, tone, and rhythm directly influencing the viewers' experience. This study aims to identify the distinctive linguistic characteristics of each type of commentary and comprehend how they influence the perception of sports events. The implications of this research extend to sports commentators, television producers, sports enthusiasts, and foreign language teachers.
