Abstract
The child's diabetes is most often represented by type 1 diabetes (TD 1). However, it is very
difficult to accept the disease when the subject is a child or adolescent knowing that the
disease is often mentioned as a risk factor for eating disorders and in the long term promotes
many complications. The purpose of our work is to evaluate nutritional intake in diabetic
children as well as their influence on metabolic control. The children participating in this
study have an average age of 7 years. The basic questionnaire and the 24-hour recall were
recorded in the mother-child pairs to calculate nutritional intake using Regal plus. Blood
samples have also been taken to measure blood glucose and glycated hemoglobin (HbA1c)
levels. The highlight of the diet in the target population is an overexpression of complex
carbohydrates and an increase in protein intakes. significantly in diabetic children compared
to control children. In contrast, lipid intakes were similar between the two groups. In the same
way, a perturbation of the glycemic control has been highlighted. This study makes it possible
to describe the food consumption of the diabetic children and to evaluate the repercussion of
this one on the glycemic control. Efforts are still needed to improve care and prevention
measures for diabetic children, especially the most disadvantaged.
