Abstract
Our study focused on working-class groups and professional socialization, aiming to understand how professional identity is formed among these groups through mechanisms of socialization. Accordingly, our research problem was formulated as follows: Can the social culture acquired from the external environment act as an impediment to professional socialization? Is the formation of professional identity among working-class groups within the internal environment of the factory attributed to the nature of socialization mechanisms based on a culture of withdrawal? To address this issue, we adopted the following hypotheses: The social culture acquired from the external environment can act as a hindrance to professional socialization. The formation of professional identity among working-class groups in the internal environment of the factory is due to the nature of socialization mechanisms based on a culture of withdrawal.
To conduct this study, we relied on the sociological approach of Renaud Sainsaulieu, which is based on the following key concepts: professional socialization and professional identity. We also adopted a qualitative methodology for our research. In order to access the field, we used interviews as our primary tool for collecting field data. Our study was carried out at the Tafna tannery in El Amria, where we selected a purposive sample consisting of 9 workers from various occupational categories.
