Abstract
This research aims to study the Algerian poem by El Hadj Allouj through an in-depth analysis of its linguistic structure, uncovering its hidden aspects, and analyzing it according to the levels of poetic discourse. The study was divided as follows:
Chapter One: A theoretical study addressing the concept of poetic discourse, along with definitions and main components of discourse analysis levels, namely: the morphological level, the phonological level, the syntactic level, and the semantic level.
Chapter Two: A practical study applying the theoretical framework to the poem ""Let the Eyes of the Cowards Not Sleep, O Jerusalem"" by El Hadj Allouj, analyzing it linguistically according to the levels of poetic discourse (morphological, phonological, syntactic, and semantic).
The research concludes with a summary highlighting the main findings, followed by appendices and a biography of the poet.
In conclusion, the poem stands out for its strong and direct style in expressing the poet’s emotional state, filled with sorrow and anger toward
the situation in Jerusalem. It employs sharp and impactful language to describe the condition of the Arab and Islamic nations and their complacency in the face of injustice and Zionist occupation. This makes the poem a compelling and communicative message to its audience.
