Abstract

In this novel, Chaos of the Senses, the novelist lives in a chaos of ideas in her narration of her novel, and because of the reality of Algeria, especially in the Black Decade, she crossed the sites of Algeria, adopting a narrative style that differs from the familiar contemporary narrative. In the midst of these psychological pressures and electrifying circumstances, she created, in her own way, a novel genre in which she took an aspect of every art, influenced by the novel series “One Thousand and One Nights,” as if she were playing the role of Scheherazade, who told stories to the king and made her heroes distinctive, such as “Khaled” and “Hayat” in their romantic story. Then we touch history in her novel, with the political circumstances since her father’s illness and the disintegration of relationships between three of his friends, the Mujahedeen. By virtue of her upbringing, culture, travels, studies, and her influence by Western and Arab intellectual trends, she concluded by presenting a productive novelistic work that she called “Chaos of the Senses,” leaving room for the reader to discover what it is and how to narrate it himself.
