Abstract
My research work consists first of all to study the evaluation of the quality of the waters of
the Mekheissia by carrying out bacteriological and physicochemical analyzes.
During this study I studied some bacteriological parameters, these are based on the research
and the enumeration of the total germs (total coliforms and faecal coliforms and Escherichia
coli), as well as the physico-chemical parameters which are mainly: temperature, pH,
electrical conductivity, salinity, turbidity and hardness.
The contents of the studied parameters of the Mekheissia dam water for drinking water
exceed the maximum permissible values and in accordance with the Algerian standards, the
dam waters show a poor aptitude for the production of drinking water.
According to the results obtained, the Mekhaissia dam water is of acceptable quality for
irrigation. Furthermore, bacteriological contamination in the dam water must be used with
caution because it is not suitable for irrigation of all the cultures.
