Abstract

The study of social networking sites, especially Face book, shows the enormous importance of communication and interaction between individuals. The aim of our research is to understand the linguistic, psychological and social motives behind the choice of these nicknames, and how they affect interactions on Face book, through analyzing them by studying the linguistic structure, researching the reasons for individuals choosing these names and the consequences of this behavior and understanding the psychological reasons that drive individuals to hide their true identity, and analyzing the relationship between these names and the virtual personality of the user .
