Abstract
Intertextuality is the over happing of other texts (whether ancient or
contemporary، religious or literary) within the structure of a poetic text، either
directly or indirectly. It is considered one of the important phenomena
emphasized in semiotic analysis as the poetic text does not generate meaning
solely from itself but through its relationship with other texts. There are several
types of intertextuality used in poetic discourses including religious
intertextuality; which involves referencing religious verses or concepts، literary
intertextuality، self- intertextuality as well as direct and indirect intertextuality.
These types were employed by the poet _HASSAN IBN THABIT_ in this
poem “AFFAT DHAT AL ASABI” highlighting the diversity of intertextuality
forms within the poem. Their use plays a significant role in interpreting meaning
and producing poetic discourse.
