Abstract

In my dissertation, I explored the Algerian literary achievement across different genres through the Algerian Encyclopedia issued by the High Council of the Arabic Language, focusing on its inventory and description. Through my modest efforts, I was able to examine this encyclopedia and extract literary works that were on the verge of disappearing due to a lack of collection and preservation — a task the High Council undertook. This encyclopedia gathered the Algerian literary output in various genres such as poetry, theater, novel, maqama, travel literature, autobiography, short story, and folktale. However, it did not comprehensively cover all the prominent figures who contributed to these genres. Moreover, it neglected some genres such as mythology, oratory, and epic.
