Abstract

The present study aimed to investigate the effectiveness of a therapeutic program based on mirror reflections in alleviating body image disorders among amputees. Given the nature of the study, the clinical case study method was adopted to achieve the research objectives. The sample consisted of three (3) cases with different types of amputation. A set of instruments was employed, including the clinical interview, observation, a mirror reflection-based therapeutic program, and the Body Image Scale developed by (Mohamed Al-Nubi, 2010), as adapted and standardized for the Algerian context by (Briyala Hanaa, 2013). The findings revealed statistically significant differences between the mean scores of the pre- and post-measurements on the level of body image disorders among amputees, in favor of the post-measurement, indicating a positive effect of the mirror reflection- based psychotherapy in reducing body image disorders among amputees.
