This study examines the issue of social criticism in the two short story collections, Point to Hell and The Palm Tree and the Sultan of the City, as an intellectual and aesthetic theme that reveals the writers' vision of social, political, and cultural reality. It also highlights the nature of the transformations experienced by Arab society and the crises and contradictions that resulted from them. The study aims to explore how the two writers employed narrative discourse and artistic techniques to diagnose manifestations of social dysfunction and expose various forms of marginalization, violence, corruption, and oppression suffered by individuals within society. In light of the findings reached, it can be argued that the two collections represent a short- story experience with a clear critical dimension. They succeeded in making literature a means of exposing social imbalances and advocating change through the integration of aesthetic and intellectual dimensions in the construction of the narrative text.
