Abstract

The research topic dealt with the psychological dimensions of the characters in the novel “The Madman” by: Muhammad Jarboua, using psychological analysis as a tool to identify the personalities of the characters who were dominated by panic and sadness, and the most important conflicts they experienced internally or with the outside, including people, nature, society...etc. These conflicts also led to the generation of psychological states that affected the novel’s characters negatively in most 89 cases, such that we find them represented in the following: sadness, anxiety, love, alienation, and others. Which made the characters resort to daydreams to forget the pain and escape from the bitter reality they faced, but nightmares always haunt these dreams and we find them overpowering them, planting negative effects within the souls that are difficult to treat
