Abstract

This study aims to understand the reality of students' perceptions of violence at the university level. To do this, a questionnaire was distributed to a sample of 42 male and female students selected purposively from the Sociology Department at the University of Aïn Temouchent, and analyzed using the method of frequencies and percentages and using the descriptive approach. The study results concluded that violence is a negative phenomenon that disrupts social relationships, leads to a lack of trust among students, makes the educational environment unsafe and uncomfortable for students and staff because it affects mental health. In addition, violence tarnishes the image of the university as a safe place.
