Abstract
Our research focuses on studying the linguistic structure of legal discourse in Algeria as
a specialized language in the judicial field. It is considered a specific area of expertise, along
with medicine, engineering, law, and psychology. The development of this language resulted
from precise concepts among specialists in their field. We specifically examined the discourse
of pleadings and judicial opinions, delving into the theoretical aspects and key milestones
leading to the emergence of this specialized language. Additionally, we explored the cultural
and social influences on the structure of legal discourse, aiming to identify significant
milestones that distinguish Algerian legal language, including linguistic and semantic
strategies used by lawyers and legal scholars to achieve legal and just objectives. Our analysis
aimed to understand the interaction between textual linguistics, applied linguistics, and the
legal context in Algeria, examining how language and discourse impact the formulation of
judgments and legal decisions in the Algerian judicial context. We provided a comprehensive
analysis of language use and discourse formation in the local legal environment, evaluating
the mechanisms and strategies employed in presenting arguments and reasoning in legal
discourse. This study contributes to understanding the interaction between language and law
within this cultural and legal context.
