Abstract

Our dissertation dealt with an important topic in linguistics, as it dealt with determining textual standards. The poem “Lamiyyat al-Arab” by the pre Islamic poet Al-Shanfara was used as a model for the applied study. Our study concluded that the pre-Islamic poem can achieve all textual standards such as coherence and harmony... through its availability of a set of controls such as repetition, substitution, juxtaposition, and referral.
