Résumé
This study aims to investigate the impact of marital problems and role changes on the
onset of psychosomatic disorders in premenopausal women by examining the
relationship between marital problems and role changes, which are considered risk
factors for psychosomatic disorders.
It also seeks to understand how unexpressed psychological stress can manifest as
physical symptoms.
This topic is considered one of the most important in clinical psychology, especially in
light of the social changes that have occurred in the family structure, such as women
assuming roles other than their own—roles that were in the past the exclusive domain of
men—which gave rise to psychological pressures that manifested as physical symptoms.
The methodology employed is clinical, as we conducted a case study using a sample of
two cases at the Ahmed Madghari Public Hospital in Tamouchent. We utilized a range of
tools, including observation, various types of interviews, and scales measuring marital
compatibility, role conflict, and psychosomatic disorders. The aim was to gather accurate
information about the psychological and physical condition, and through this study, we
reached the following conclusions:
There is a clear relationship between the increase or exacerbation of marital problems
and role changes and their impact on the emergence of psychosomatic disorders. It also
became evident that psychological stress can manifest as physical symptoms.
Our study concluded that both cases suffer from poor psychological compatibility and
high role conflict, which led to the emergence of moderate physical disorders.
Finally, this study concluded with recommendations, including the need to nurture the
marital relationship through effective communication
and each partner’s commitment to their respective roles to alleviate psychological stress
and prevent psychosomatic disorders.
