The recycling of composite materials represents a major challenge for the industry today, particularly in the context of sustainable development and the circular economy. Carbon fibers, widely used in the aeronautics, automotive and advanced technology sectors, pose significant challenges at the end of their life, due to their complex structure and their high manufacturing cost. Faced with these constraints, electrostatic separation appears as a promising solution to optimize the sorting and recovery of these materials, while preserving their essential properties. This experimental work focuses on the electrostatic separation of a mixture of recycled carbon fibers and polycarbonate (PC), using an electrostatic separator with modified airflow. The study examines the effect of high voltage and polarity on the Résumé 71 recovery and purity rates of materials, as well as on the dynamics of particles subjected to electrostatic forces. In order to better understand the mechanisms involved, numerical simulations were carried out using the COMSOL Multiphysics software to visualize the distribution of the electric field and refine the parameters of the experimental device. The results obtained confirm the effectiveness of electrostatic separation for the sorting of recycled carbon fibers and open up prospects for optimizing the process, with the aim of promoting a better integration of recycled materials in industrial applications.en_US
