Abstract

In the context of emerging bilingual education in Algeria, this thesis, conducted at Belhadj Bouchaib University, examines the challenges and risks linked to the simultaneous introduction of French and English among third-grade primary pupils. Using a methodology that combines teacher, learners questionnaires and classroom observations at BOUCHIKHI Kouider Primary School, the study analyzes how this dual learning affects the mastery of language skills.. The work highlights the importance of a contrastive didactic approach and increased metalinguistic awareness to effectively support simultaneous language instruction, and proposes pedagogical recommendations to promote a harmonious learning of both French and English.
