Résumé
This research falls within the field of sociolinguistics and focuses on the linguistic practices
of Algerian football players. It aims to analyze the role of code-switching between French
and Algerian Arabic in the expression of emotions and the construction of social identity.
The corpus consists of ten speech extracts collected from interviews, press conferences, and
sports interactions broadcast on YouTube and TikTok. The study adopts both quantitative
and qualitative approaches to identify the forms of code-switching and their sociolinguistic
functions. The findings reveal that players frequently use Algerian Arabic to express
emotions such as joy, hope, frustration, and pride, while French is mainly used to structure
discourse and discuss technical and professional aspects. Code-switching therefore appears
as a discursive strategy that enables players to adapt their communication to the media
context while asserting their social and cultural belonging. This linguistic practice also
reflects the multilingual reality of Algerian society and the social representations associated
with the languages involved.
