Abstract
Several studies have shown that a large number of diseases can occur following an oral
infection or a dental operative procedure. This situation suggests the importance of the risks
of infections transmitted in a dental office (manual transmission, airborne transmission),
through medical and surgical equipment and also by the aerosolization of pathogenic germs
from water and the saliva of patient who considers potential sources of aerosols in the air.
The objective of this work is to determine the origin of aerosols that colonize the air of the
dental office, for this an isolation and identification of bacteria has been carried out from air,
water, the oral cavity of the patient of Al-Sebbah Clinic, EPSP Ain Témouchent, 9 samples
were collected, the results of which reveal the presence of a good number of microorganisms
with a dominance of Coagulase-negative staphylococci of oral origin followed by 3 gramnegative bacilli of waterborne origin, which indicates that the air is of bad quality
microbiological, and the results obtained confirm that there is a phenomenon of aerosolization
of bacteria from the water and the patient's mouth by the action of ultrasonic scalers and parts
by hand at high speed.
