Résumé
This study aims to analyze the impact of financial development on economic
growth in Algeria during the period (1990-2024). The research problem focused
on identifying the nature of the relationship between financial development and economic growth. To achieve the objectives of the study, an econometric approach was adopted using the ARDL model. The results revealed the existence of significant relationship between financial development and economic growth in the long run. The findings also showed that money supply has a positive effect on
economic growth, while credit granted to the private sector, investment rate, trade
openness, and inflation rate recorded negative effects on economic growth during the study period. These results reflect the limited effectiveness of the financial sector in directing resources toward productive economic activities, which highlights the need to strengthen financial reforms and improve the efficiency of the financial system in order to support investment and achieve sustainable economic growth in Algeria.
