Abstract
The aim of this study was to demonstrate the impact of parental treatment from the children's perspective on their psychological well-being. We sought to determine whether parental treatment negatively affects psychological well-being and whether the effects of parental treatment vary according to gender.
To achieve this, we employed a clinical approach using semi-structured interviews and scientific observation. We also utilized the Family Drawing Test and the Psychological Well-Being Scale developed by "Zainab Shaqeer" and standardized by (Latifa Jamah, 2017). These instruments were administered to a purposive sample consisting of two adolescents (male, 15 years old, and female, 14 years old) who were children of teenagers. The study yielded the following results:
- Parental treatment, from the children's perspective, impacts their psychological well-being.
- Parental treatment, from the children's perspective, negatively affects their psychological well-being.
- The effects of parental treatment, from the children's perspective, on psychological well-being vary according to gender.
These findings were discussed in light of previous studies and the existing literature.
