Abstract

"Criminal settlement is considered one of the modern alternative mechanisms for resolving certain criminal disputes, which has been adopted by the Algerian legislator to achieve greater effectiveness in criminal policy and to reduce resorting to traditional judicial procedures. It is of great importance due to its numerous advantages, whether in alleviating the burden on the judiciary, contributing to the simplification and management of criminal procedures, or achieving the interests of both the public treasury and litigants at the same time.

The study concluded that restorative justice has not yet reached the stage of becoming an alternative to traditional criminal justice, as it is limited only to offenses of minor seriousness. Therefore, it is considered a complementary system to traditional criminal justice."
