Abstract
Grammar is the structure and system of a language, it helps us send messages with
appropriate meaning and understand others. There are many ways to teach grammar to young
learners that can be fun and interest such as applying educational games during grammar
session, which facilitate the understand of the language also solve the problems face pupils of
foreign languages. Language games are what our research proposes as an effective method,
which helped pupils to became happy and interest to achieve better results. It aims at
highlighting an examination of the effective use of language games in grammar learning
middle school pupils. The present research work aims at investigating the effect of using
games in teaching English grammar to young learners, to carry out this research, case study
has been conducted in the middle school of HOUARI ABDALLAH of EL-AMRIA, where 04
third-year pupils, And two English teachers have been selected as a sample. A questionnaire
and a semi-structured interview were designed respectively to the pupils and the teachers. The
data collected were analyzed quantitatively and qualitatively. The main results obtained from
the data collected showed that the use of language games in grammar learning middle school
pupils can improve the use of their language building, their skills and developing their level,
also it provides pupils with more opportunities to express their thoughts and feelings. The
data also showed that, games are one of the best ways to create unusual routine of enjoyment
that encourage pupils to interact and communicate with each other. Finally this study aims at
suggesting and recommending some procedures that may contribute incorporation of using
games in teaching grammar, and therefore, in enhancing learners proficiency and
achievement.
