Abstract

In Algeria, bronchial cancer (BC) represents a real public health problem but data on this cancer are insufficient in the wilaya of Ain Temouchent. This is a descriptive study of 70 patients diagnosed between 2020 and 2022 at the medical oncology department of the hospital Dr. Benzerdjeb of Ain Temouchent. The information was obtained from medical records. It emerges that men are more affected than women with a sex ratio of 7.75 and the average age is 62.14 years. The adenocarcinoma type is found in 42.85% of cases. The results also show that the frequency of smoking in these patients is 58.57%which confirms the involvement of this factor in the development of BC. In conclusion, it would be interesting to enlarge the study population in order to characterize more precisely CB in our population. Furthermore, further studies on the involvement of environmental factors in a larger population will be necessary in order to propose the most appropriate prevention strategies for BC in our population.
