Abstract

The issue of foreign direct investment is of great importance in the economies of developed and developing countries alike, and is considered a complementary factor for domestic investment in achieving growth and development, so most countries compete to attract foreign direct investment in a way that leads to an increase in its share of it, and achieves compatibility with national capabilities and goals. to its host countries. We have explained in the study the economic importance of tourism, which was confirmed by many studies and relevant international bodies. The countries of the Maghreb have prepared and implemented national strategies for the development of the tourism sector, aiming - in the first place - to activate the performance of the tourism sector in the national economy, and trying to raise the percentage of contribution This sector is in economic and social development, compared to the rest of the other economic sectors. And we found that there is a discrepancy in the share of tourism investments in the total domestic investments from one country to another in the Maghreb countries, and this is due to the relative importance that each country attaches to the tourism sector
