dc.description.abstractThe telecommunications sector has undergone rapid technological development in recent years. The miniaturisation of patch antennae using metamaterial technology is a fast-growing area of research that meets the increasing demand of mobile telecommunications networks. The aim of this research work is to design and produce new miniature antenna structures while highlighting the use of metamaterial cells, such as complementary split ring resonators (CSRRs). A comparison between two miniaturisation methods based on slots and metamaterials was introduced to show the interest of metamaterial resonators in reducing the size of the antenna compared with the slot technique. In order to optimise the performance of the proposed miniature antennae, particularly in terms of bandwidth and gain, the DGS technique has been added to the ground plan of the proposed structures, which are dedicated to applications of the new 5G, Wi-Fi-5 and Wi-Fi 6 technologies in the [3.4-3.8] GHz, [5.15-5.85] GHz and [5.925 7.125] GHz frequency bands respectively. Several parametric studies have been carried out to improve the performance of the geometries studied in terms of reflection coefficient, gain and bandwidth, while significantly reducing the antenna footprint. The simulation was carried out using CST Microwave Studio software. The simulation results obtained and the measurements of the prototypes of the proposed models are then compared and discussed.en_US
