Résumé
"This study aims to determine the impact of
exchange rate fluctuations on the budget deficit - a
case study of Algeria - during the period (1990-
2021) using an autoregressive approach for
distributed lag periods, and this is in light of the
continuous deterioration of the dollar and the
currency devaluation policy that Algeria has
followed in recent years, in addition To the crises
and shocks that Algeria experienced from the
financial and oil crisis, in addition to the health
crisis in 2019 (Covid-19), where descriptive and
quantitative were used.
The study concluded that the reduction policy
followed in Algeria was not effective in correcting
the imbalance in the general budget, and this is due
to the nature of the national economy, which is based on fuel, and the presence of a negative effect
for both variables of the study, the exchange rate
and the budget deficit, because there is no co-
integration relationship between them.
Keywords: exchange rate, budget deficit, imports (fuel sector)."
