In the field of food, réfrigération plays an important role as it allows us to preserve food and various commodities, thereby extending their shelf life. To achieve this, we typically use facilities such as cold rooms or refrigerated warehouses. In the context of our work, we first reviewed several previous studies from various sources (local and foreign), as well as numerous scientific research papers on this topic. We also consulted many websites to gather sufficient information and references to cover all aspects related to modern systems used for generating cold. In our work, we began our conversation by discussing cold in general, the history of the emergence of refrigeration technology in the 20th century, and eminent scientists who focused on cold production. In the second chapter, we talked about thermodynamics, cold rooms, and refrigeration machines in a general sense. In the third chapter, we presented common renewable energies and then studied a new hybrid system (photovoltaic-wind) to power a refrigerated warehouse in a Saharan region. We then proposed six specific refrigerants that we subjected to the same conditions to evaluate, determine, and compare their performance using the software called Solkane 8.0.en_US
