Abstract

Personal data are considered among the rights linked to individuals’ private life, which has made their protection an increasingly important concern at both international and national levels, given their significance in safeguarding human dignity and fundamental freedoms, especially with the expanding use of electronic means and the growing circulation of data, In this context, the Algerian legislator enacted Law No. 18-07, as amended and supplemented by Law No. 25-11, which regulates the processing of personal data and defines its conditions and rules, with the aim of protecting individuals from any unlawful use of their data, This legal framework establishes a set of protection mechanisms, including administrative, civil, and criminal measures, ensuring the regulation of data processing operations, the definition of the responsibilities of those in charge, and the deterrence of violations, while maintaining a balance between data processing requirements and the protection of privacy.
