Résumé
"The Algerian legislator introduced new amendments regarding the fight against drug and psychotropic substance crimes and the suppression of their illicit use and trafficking, in order to combat these crimes, especially among young people and adolescents, by establishing new mechanisms for the prevention of these crimes and the care of addicts.
The most important provisions introduced by this law include the tightening of penalties for all drug and psychotropic substance offenses, as well as exempting juvenile minors from criminal prosecution if they undergo treatment before the initiation of public proceedings, and dividing drug offenses into three categories: felonies, aggravated misdemeanors, and ordinary misdemeanors. The legislator also strengthened penalties for all drug-related offenses except for offenses involving consumption, purchase, or possession solely for personal use. In addition, all forms of consumption, dealing, and trafficking in drugs and psychotropic substances were suppressed.
