Abstract
In recent years the scientific and industrial community has a growing interest in the
wireless sensor networks RCSF which leads a new standardized protocol considering
the hardware characteristics of the nodes used.
The IETF has proposed RPL (IPV6 Routing Protocol for Low-Power and Lossy
Networks) as the routing standard for networks with "LLN" (Low-Power and Lossy)
type nodes. Networks). A low energetic autonomy characterizes it and transmits it
on radio links with a high rate of data loss.
The purpose of our research is to appraise the work of RPL according to two routing
metrics: ETX and energy. Then, advise an improvement of the RPL for a better
support of the mobility to improve the performances of LLN’s, and especially the
lifespan of the network and the number of packets received. For this purpose, we have
combined two metrics to fill the limits of the routing metrics considered separately.
The results obtained were promising in terms of energy consumption and network
lifetime and the number of packets received.
