Abstract
The vegetation of the region of Ain Temouchent, such as Algeria, is exposed to several factors threatening the progressive degradation of biodiversity.
The objective of this work is to study the current status of plant biodiversity in a stressful environment.
The bioclimatic study for the period (2006-2020) showed that the climate of the study area
belongs to the semi-arid stage attested by a period of 6 months of drought.
The analysis of floristic diversity revealed the existence of 51 taxa distributed in 21 families,
dominated mainly by Asteraceae with 25.49% and Poaceae with 13.73%.
The calculation of the disturbance index is of the order of 45.09%, which means the strong
degradation manifested by a therophytization of 45.10% of plant structures.
