Abstract
This study focuses on the modeling, simulation, and analysis of the hydrodynamic behavior of a
centrifugal pump using Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) through the ANSYS Fluent software.
Following a general overview of pumps and their classification, particular emphasis is placed on the
operating principles of centrifugal pumps. The study then proceeds with the establishment of
characteristic curves, which are essential for understanding pump performance. The numerical approach
includes geometric modeling, meshing, the selection of physical models (turbulence, cavitation), and
the definition of boundary conditions. Simulations are carried out for four fluids (water, salt water,
methanol, and gasoline) under two flow regimes: without cavitation and with cavitation. The main
objective is to analyze and compare pressure distribution and cavitation effects based on the nature of
the fluid. The results obtained help assess the influence of fluid properties on pump operation and
identify the conditions that promote cavitation.
