Abstract

"This study aims , first to measure the efficiency of the banking sector in the Arab Maghreb countries in light of digital transformation over the period (2010– 2024), and second to conduct a comparative analysis of the Tunisian banking sector. The study adopts a descriptive-analytical approach, using Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) , based on the (CRS) and (VRS) models to measure technical and scale efficienc. It also employed the Malmquist index to measure changes in total factor productivity over time. The results reveal that banking efficiency in Algeria experienced continuous fluctuations due to suboptimal resource utilization and weak digital infrastructure, compared to the Tunisian banking sector ,which achieved higher efficiency levels during the study period. The finding also showed that changes in total productivity were mainly driven by technological change , highlighting the positive role of digital transformation in improving banking efficiency "
