Abstract
"This thesis aims to examine the legal framework governing the work of consumer protection associations in Algeria, considering them as an important civil actor in safeguarding the economic and social rights of consumers, especially in light of challenges related to the quality of goods and services and the fight against unlawful commercial practices.
The research focuses on analyzing the legal texts regulating the activities of these associations, particularly Law No. 09-03 of February 25, 2009, related to consumer protection and fraud repression, in addition to the Associations Law No. 12-06. The study seeks to evaluate the effectiveness of these laws in enabling associations to fulfill their oversight and awareness-raising roles.
The study also addresses the institutional framework within which these associations operate, as well as the obstacles they face on both legal and practical levels, such as weak funding, lack of training, and restricted legal scope—especially when compared to other countries that rely on strong associations as a key component of consumer protection.
