Abstract

Argan􀀈oil,􀀈rich􀀈in􀀈 a􀀈millennial􀀈past􀀈with􀀈its􀀈nutritional,􀀈aesthetic,􀀈 dietary􀀈and􀀈pharmaceutical􀀈 values,􀀈has􀀈been􀀈the􀀈subject􀀈of􀀈several􀀈studies􀀈and􀀈publications.􀀈This􀀈natural􀀈product􀀈has􀀈been􀀈 used􀀈in􀀈traditional􀀈medicine􀀈for􀀈body􀀈and􀀈hair􀀈care,􀀈and􀀈to􀀈prevent􀀈certain􀀈diseases.􀀈 Argan􀀈oil􀀈is􀀈rich􀀈in􀀈unsaturated􀀈fatty􀀈 acids􀀈and􀀈is􀀈also􀀈characterized􀀈by􀀈its􀀈trace􀀈 elements,􀀈 in􀀈 addition􀀈to􀀈its􀀈particular􀀈composition,􀀈it􀀈draws􀀈its􀀈characteristics􀀈from􀀈its􀀈minority􀀈compounds􀀈 such􀀈 as􀀈 tocopherols􀀈(it􀀈 contains􀀈 twice􀀈 as􀀈 much􀀈 as􀀈 the􀀈olive􀀈 oil),􀀈 polyphenols,􀀈 phytosterols,􀀈 squalene􀀈and􀀈triterpenes.􀀈 In􀀈 addition􀀈 to􀀈 its􀀈 nutritional􀀈 value,􀀈 it􀀈 also􀀈 has􀀈 many􀀈 pharmacological􀀈 and􀀈 cosmetological􀀈 properties.􀀈Indeed,􀀈recent􀀈 research􀀈work􀀈has􀀈demonstrated􀀈beneficial􀀈effects􀀈in􀀈the􀀈prevention􀀈 of􀀈 certain􀀈 cardiovascular􀀈 diseases􀀈 by􀀈 highlighting􀀈 its􀀈 hypocholesterolemic,􀀈 hypolipidemic,􀀈 moisturizing,􀀈anti-diabetic􀀈and􀀈anti-proliferative,􀀈regenerating􀀈but􀀈alsoantioxidants.􀀈 This􀀈work􀀈 aims􀀈 to􀀈 contribute􀀈 to􀀈 the􀀈 study􀀈 of􀀈 different􀀈 therapeutic􀀈 virtues􀀈 by􀀈 recalling􀀈 the􀀈 different􀀈proven􀀈biological􀀈activities􀀈of􀀈argan􀀈oil,􀀈as􀀈well􀀈as􀀈a􀀈small􀀈research􀀈on􀀈the􀀈traditional􀀈 and􀀈industrial􀀈cosmetic􀀈use􀀈of􀀈this􀀈product
